TOP SOIL This is the upper and outermost layer of soil. Usually this will be the top 2 to 8 inches of soil, hence the reason for its name. The top soil layer has the highest concentration of of organic matter and microorganisms vital to the long-term health and vitality of any landscaping or lawn project. It is generally accepted that this all important layer of dark black soil is where the vast majority of all biological soil activity on Earth takes place. Plants for the most part will concentrate their root development in this layer, where they will obtain the majority of the nutrients they need to survive.
RETAINING WALLS
A retaining wall is a structure designed to hold back soil or rock from a building, structure, or area. Retaining Walls prevent downslope or erosion and provide support for vertical or near vertical grade changes.
